Job Summary: The K-12 Part-Time Counselor at Nezperce School District provides counseling and support services to students in grades K-12. As a counselor, you will work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and administrators to promote the academic, social, emotional, and personal development of students. This part-time position involves working a set number of hours per week, and the exact schedule will be determined in consultation with the school administration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students in grades K-12, addressing academic, social, emotional, and personal issues.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify students' needs, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support students' academic success and overall well-being.
- Assist students in developing and implementing academic and career plans, including college and career exploration.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to students in emergencies or challenging situations..
- Conduct small group counseling sessions on various topics such as study skills, conflict resolution, self-esteem, etc.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records, including counseling notes and progress reports.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.
- Assist in organizing and implementing school-wide events, such as career fairs, parent-teacher conferences, and student orientations.
- Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and any concerns that may arise.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards for school counselors.
Qualifications:
- Hold a Pupil Personnel Services Certificate with the proper endorsements or be able to obtain one in three years
- Master’s degree in counseling or equivalent
- Background in the use of technology
