EMMETT SCHOOL DISTRICT, #221 JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent JOB SUMMARY: Acts as the Operations Director for the Pupil Transportation System QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties and responsibilities listed below. Must have satisfactory driving record as revealed through checks with the National Driver Register Service and the State Department of Motor Vehicles. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Develops and maintains a transportation program within regulations of the State of Idaho Transportation Manual.Prepares and updates bus schedules. Coordinates bus activity trips with principals and teachers.Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates all transportation personnel and makes recommendations on their employment, transfer, promotion and release.Organizes work, staff, equipment and supplies to attain an efficient, safe, and healthy environment.Develops and implements a prevention maintenance program.Helps prepare, recommends and administers transportation as required.Purchases in accordance with budgetary limitations and district policies.Develops and implements safety instructional programs for pupils and drivers.Advises superintendent on road hazards for decision on school closures during inclement weather.Establishes and directs discipline program to maintain order on school buses.Develops, maintains, supervises, the implementation of an on going evaluation program for the pupil transportation system.Investigates and reports accidents involving school buses.Develops recommendations for future equipment and personnel needs based on a survey of student's distances and grade levels.Acts as a liaison with drivers and parents for complaints and special requests.Deals with parents, students, staff and others in a positive, encouraging professional manner.Attends appropriate committees, staff, and board meetings.Knows and follows school district policy and chain of commandActs ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.Performs such school related duties as assigned by supervisor. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: The employment period shall be for 260 days that includes 6 legal holidays. Holidays include:Labor DayThanksgiving DayChristmas DayNew Year's DayMemorial DayIndependence Day All non-certificated staff not under contract are under "at will employment". Their positions shall be considered in all respects "employment at will" and the employee is subject to discharge by the district at any time without cause. The "employment period" and other descriptions and terms set forth in their job descriptions shall not create a property right in the employee and such are set forth only to advise the employee of when and what type of services will be required by the district so long as employment continues. The employment period shall be for twelve (12) months with vacations as specified by district rules and regulations. The salary shall be determined by the Superintendent and approved by the Board of Trustees.
