SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

1. Valid Idaho Pupil Personnel Services Certificate with Speech Language Pathologist endorsement.
2. Valid driver’s license.
3. Must have own transportation. Mileage will be reimbursed by the district.
4. Ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public.
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
6. Idaho license from Bureau of Occupational Licenses.
7. Certificate of Clinical Competence is preferred.

Reports to: Director of Special Services

Supervises: Speech Language Pathology assistant

Job Goals:

To identify and provide therapy to students with speech or language impairments so that the
students may benefit from a free and appropriate public education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of assessment and remediation of speech and language disorders.
2. Identifies and refers students for related services.
3. Demonstrates knowledge of and understanding of special education laws and procedures.
4. Coordinates and/or participates in IEP Team meetings.
5. Maintains student compliance files in accordance with federal, state and local procedures.
6. Develops and implements specific, reasonable, and necessary treatment plans based on individual needs.
7. Maintains a uniform and effective data collection system for evaluating student performance.
8. Interprets and integrates evaluation results to make appropriate diagnosis and recommendations.
9. Develops and implements Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
10. Develops appropriate goals and objectives for speech and language therapy.
11. Writes required reports clearly and concisely.
12. Utilizes direct therapy time efficiently, have a clearly evident objective for each session.
13. Communicates effectively in IEP Team meetings, conferences and other meetings.
14. Collaborates with other professionals in matters relevant to student services.
15. Administers audiometric screening and makes appropriate referrals.
16. Communicates with students, parents and staff about student progress on a regular basis.
17. Maintains and submits data for Medicaid billing.
18. Seeks out opportunities for professional growth.
19. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
20. Has regular and predictable attendance.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs all other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment:

An employee working in this position shall, at all times, be subject to the direction of the persons to whom said employee has primary responsibility or said person’s designee(s), and at all times shall be subject to the rules, regulations and policies of the District as promulgated by the Board of Trustees. Each employee shall be held responsible for having knowledge of said School District rules, regulations and policies.

This position will be up to eight (8) hours per day; up to 190 days per year. Work hours to be established by the Director of Special Services. Salary will be in accordance with the placement on the Teacher’s Salary Schedule commensurate with years of experience and education. All terms of employment may be subject to change, as recommended by administrative staff or as directed by the Board of Trustees.

Evaluation:

Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Services in
accordance with board policy.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; sit; stand; walk; have sufficient hand, arm and finger dexterity; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee will also be required to drive an automobile.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
