Job Title: Special Education Director
Reports to: CEO at Elevate Academy Network
The special education director is responsible for the effective operation of the special education department and implementation of the Elevate Academy special education philosophy. The director will supervise the special education department and it’s team, lead the development of the special educational program, foster a culture of positive, engaged team members, and serve as a strong advocate for the school’s 6 core tenants to serve the needs of all special education students.
The director will work closely with the Elevate Academy Schools Lead special education teacher and the schools special education team to provide an inclusive special education model. The director will support and help design professional development for effective inclusive strategies, managing timelines, creating effective and compliant IEP’s and managing all other compliance related tasks.
The special education director will work collaboratively with the administration to provide consistent and effective school leadership for the special education department.
The Special Education Director will be the direct liaison between the state department of education and the Elevate Academy Network and its schools.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Special educational program management.
Embody, advocate for, and execute on the mission, vision and strategic direction of the special education department.
Foster teacher leadership and shared decision making.
Facilitate professional development, for special education related topics.
Ensure educational and regulatory compliance at all governmental levels for special education.
Respond to and be aware of information received from various agencies including Idaho Department of Education, State Board of Education, and Charter School Commission.
Develop department procedures, methods and practice.
Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations including, but not limited to, IEPs, Medicaid, record keeping, testing, and communication data.
Advise vendor management and contracted services including, psych services, SLP services, testing materials and supplies.
Assist in the recruitment and selection of the special education staff.
Mentor special education staff and foster positive, collaborative working relationships.
Establish and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships.
Maintain an accessible presence to the school community.
Communicate issues, concerns, and needs to the building administration.
Maintain frequent and regular communications with families as appropriate.
Fiscal management of the special education budget.
Prepares related reports and records as required by the school division, local, state, or federal government.
The director will perform other duties as required.
May directly supervise students. May work with building administration to advise on the performance of special education staff including certificated and paraprofessional staff.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Valid Idaho Special Education Certification
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate personal and mainframe computers and related software. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all related corporation policies and state requirements.

Salary range: $85,000 to $105,000. Eligible for a full benefits package.
