• Maintain student confidentiality
• Aid special education teacher in running the classroom - run the classroom (under the direction
of the teacher) in the teacher's absence
• Carry out lesson plans, developed by the special education teacher
• Complete cumulative file clean-up & filing under the direction of the special education teacher
• Assist students in organizing assignments and missing work
• Assist 6th-12th grade students in checking their grades & assignments in our PowerSchool
• Aid special education teacher with paperwork as appropriate
• Model appropriate social skills, adaptive behavior, and problem solving skills
• Work with high-needs students at our middle/high school. Sometimes in a 1:1 situation, working
directly with students with special needs, other times running a classroom of 4-8 students
• Supervise students and provide direct care and instruction under the supervision of special
education teacher
• Assist students in the general education classroom, receiving special education services during
the school day
• Accompany students in and around the building
• Establish a supportive relationship with students to provide a positive educational experience
• Serve as a resource person to the special education team as needed
• Report directly to the Special Education Teacher
• Willingness to work with teachers and take direction
• Must be a positive person, who relates well with students and staff
• Attend monthly professional development with BGV staff
• Attend IEP meetings after school when requested
• Perform other duties as assigned based on teacher directives
