POSITION: Principal of the Idaho City Middle/High
School, grades 7-12.
LOCATION: 100 Centerville Rd, Idaho City, ID 83631
(45 minutes north of Boise)
The Basin School District is an innovative forward thinking district looking for people passionate

DUTIES
● Directs the day-to-day activities of the middle and high school staff. Duties include
training, counseling, evaluating staff performance, and when necessary recommending
the disciplining and/ discharging a staff member.
● Supervises the delivery of academic instruction ensuring learning experiences consistent
with the mission statement, Educating today’s children for tomorrow’s world, and
instructional goals of the building and district.
● Provides Mentoring and guidance to staff who are engaged in student instruction.
● Promotes improvement of curriculum and instruction within grades 7-12.
● Monitors student achievement and progress toward instructional goals and objectives of
the building and district; initiates corrective action as necessary.
● Provides leadership and direction in the development and execution of the building and
district’s strategic plan.
● Works with the counselor to develop the master schedule and class scheduling of
students.
● Works with the finance manager to maintain the middle/high school budget. Oversees
the procurement of books, supplies, materials and equipment ensuring expenditures are
within the approved budget(s).
● Plans, coordinates and conducts staff development activities ensuring that instruction
needs of the building are addressed.
● Monitors school building areas to ensure safe conditions and compliance with Federal,
state and local health and safety standards.
● Creates and promotes a positive and cooperative atmosphere that encourages and
motivates students and staff; ensures rules are fairly and consistently administered.
● Monitors building compliance with related regulatory requirements and district standards;
initiates corrective action as necessary.
● Oversees the maintenance of accurate personnel, student and fiscal records; protects
confidentiality of information.
● Prepares or oversees completion of required documentation and reports.
● Establishes and maintains communication with district administrators, building staff,
students, parents and others; articulates and promotes the vision and mission of the
building.
● Promotes positive school-community relations by clearly communicating school
messages to parents and members of the community; responding to parental and
community inquiries in a timely and courteous manner, encouraging/ promoting parental
participation in school activities, providing support to parent organizations and
maintaining visibility with students, parents and the community.
● Participates on district-wide committees as assigned.
● Maintains current knowledge of best practices, trends and new developments in
secondary curriculum, instruction and building administration. Recommends and
implements changes to operations and instructional strategies as necessary.
● Ensures staff maintains required credentials and facilitates on-going development
opportunities that align with district strategies and objectives
● Resolves problems, situations or issues in a collaborative, tactful, courteous and
respectful manner.
● Administers the student behavior and discipline program; counsels and provides
guidance to students regarding a variety of personal, academic and behavioral issues.
● Investigates and addresses student-related issues and concerns; develops a plan of
action to address problem(s).
● Works cooperatively with multidisciplinary team, guidance counselors, student safety
resource coordinator, SPED, and others to implement various initiatives to increase
academic success and ensure students are able to achieve their appropriate grade level.
● Plans, coordinates and executes student activities and programs.
● Participate in school board meetings.
● Attend activities as administrator as needed.
● Oversee the alignment of state standards with curriculum and instruction.
● Develop project based learning as it relates to pathways into careers beyond high
school.
● Performs other duties as assigned. For example, duties such as but not limited to teach a class or two, SPED Director, help develop outdoor education program
, increase STEAM opportunities, facilitate or delegate academic competitions, activities director, technology director, or other skills that may enhance the student experience in the district
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
● Master's degree in Education.
● Four (4) or more years of related teaching and administrative experience including
supervisory responsibilities.
● Valid Idaho Department of Education Administrator certificate or equivalent.
● Demonstrated knowledge of accrediting and regulatory standards and district policies
related to assigned functions.
● Demonstrated supervisory skills to effectively manage the daily operations and
administration of assigned function(s).
● Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with all
levels of district staff, students, parents and the general public.
● Ability to handle problem situations in a tactful, courteous and respectful manner.
● Strong written and verbal communication skills, including effective presentation skills.
● Computer skills necessary to maintain various departmental records, documents and
reports. Google Education Suite experience preferred.
● Analytical ability to develop plans of action to address a variety of issues and concerns in
a timely manner.
● Mathematical aptitude necessary to develop an annual budget and monitor
expenditures.
● Demonstrated ability to effectively serve as a leader and member of a team.

4 years teaching minimum, preferred 7 years.
Prefer experience as a principal or administrator
