SUPERVISOR: Building Principal/Assistant Principals
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Days as designated per Negotiated Contract. Works on-site according to Principal's designated schedule.

SUMMARY:
Provides a full range of school psychological services to students aged 3-21, which include Special Education, 504, Gate, and intervention including, but not limited to, screening, assessment, and collaboration with various education teams. Assists students with the development of appropriate programming, monitoring, and evaluation on an ongoing basis, and determines student eligibility for specially designed services. Provides services which support students' social-emotional and behavioral health as needed. Reports to the Building Principal and Assistant Principals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a Master's Degree in Education, Psychology, or School Psychology, School Psychology Specialist degree, or current National Certification for School Psychologists (NCSP). Must hold or be able to obtain a valid Idaho Pupil Personnel Services credential endorsed for School Psychologist K/12. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Any equivalent combination of education and experience. Spanish language skills or bilingual/biliterate preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list of essential duties is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class. * Assists in the development of programs for students with various unique and diverse learning needs.
* Interprets psychological assessment and diagnostic information.
* Schedules and conducts extensive psychological examination of referred students and prepares psychological reports in a timely manner, including, but not limited to, Psychological Processing (cross-battery assessment procedures), Social/Emotional/Behavioral Assessments, Adaptive Assessments, and Risk/Threat Assessments.
* Assists with eligibility determinations for children with special needs and/or who are gifted and talented.
* Participates as a team member on various educational teams and coordinates duties effectively with team members.
* Serves as a consultant to school personnel including, but not limited to, Special Education teachers and professionals, Social Workers, Counselors, general education teachers, and administrators.
* Provides individual and group counseling as needed.
* Assists in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community.
* Provides appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students' needs.
* Advocates for student needs and mental health services, coordination of services, etc.
* Writes diagnostic evaluation summaries and analyzes data to provide recommendations.
* Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by making suggestions for the student's daily activities.
* Participates in building and Special Education Committee Meetings as requested.
* Participates on the District-wide Psychological First Aid team to respond in crises.
* Participates in Risk and/or Suicide Assessments.
* Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
* Travels frequently between schools in Blaine County.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of best practices for assessing students who are culturally/ linguistically diverse. Knowledge of school psychology practices, educational strategies and interventions, child development, substance abuse, tests and measurement, and crisis management. Knowledge of current Federal and State laws and regulations regarding individuals with disabilities aged 3-21. Knowledge of current principles, theories, methods, techniques, research, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instruction of K-12 level students. Knowledge of academic, social, and behavioral characteristics of K-12 level students. Knowledge of educational curriculum, instructional goals and objectives, and educational trends and research findings pertaining to comprehensive K-12 programming. Knowledge of behavior management, behavior shaping, and conflict resolution strategies, techniques, and methods. Knowledge of socio-economic and cultural background differences within the school population. Ability to synthesize and interpret clinical, educational, diagnostic, and assessment data. Ability to apply assessment, counseling, interviewing, and crisis intervention skills to various situations. Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group situations with interdisciplinary team members, parents, students, and other employees of the district. Ability to perform duties in accordance with Board of Education policies and procedures and State laws and guidelines. Ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, students, parents, and the general public. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs. Ability to plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students. Ability to work in a friendly manner and to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and parents. Ability to use small office equipment and computers.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The job is performed in a generally hazard free environment under minimal temperature variations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to balance, stand, and walk; use mental acuity; use hands to hold, move, feel and manipulate objects; reach with hands and arms; sit, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Specific speaking and hearing abilities required by this job include expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and receiving detailed information through oral communication. Performs light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
