Job Title: School Nurse
Location: Nampa, ID
Salary: Aligned to the Idaho State Dept of Education Career Ladder
2023-2024 School Year Work Contract: 187 Days

Position Summary
The School Nurse will provide direct care to students with injuries, acute illness, and long-term management of special healthcare needs, as well as maintain student health plans and monitor the delivery of care, provide health promotion and counseling to students, and provide resource information to families. The School nurse will also perform physical assessments, conduct mass screenings when deemed necessary, dispense medications, collect data, maintain school medical supplies, and assist with strategies to improve the school health program.
Minimum Qualifications
*Current Idaho Pupil Personnel Services Certificate with School Nurse Endorsement (K-12) or eligible for certificate
*Must hold, or be eligible for, a current Idaho Registered Nurse License
*BLS for Healthcare Providers required
*Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to effectively communicate with students, school staff, and families/caregivers
*Proficient in the use of computer technology, including electronic health record or student management systems
*Positive, kind, creative, communicative, selfless, humble, and wants to be part of making the lives of children, while at school, extraordinarily fantastic!
*Valid Idaho identification
*Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Major responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
*Coordinate the delivery of health and wellness services to students, including assessment of medical situations, administration of medications, notification of guardians when appropriate, and annual screenings
*Collaborate with educators, parents, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community for all students
*Adhere to state guidelines for nursing to ensure the health and wellness of students and staff
*Maintain confidentiality of all medical cases following state and federal laws
*Participate in IEP, 504, and Health Plan meetings as required
*Provide education and training to appropriate staff to ensure the proper support of IEP, 504, and student Health Plans
*Participate in staff meetings and professional development classes as necessary
*Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development by such efforts as attendance at professional meetings, membership in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses, and by reading professional journals and other publications
*Perform other duties as requested by administration to meet the needs of students
