SCHOOL CUSTODIAN/MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Terms of Employment
Starting Pay Range: $22.00/Hr
Work Contract: 8 Hrs/Day, 215 Days per School Year

Position Summary
Provide a safe, clean environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Minimum Requirements
-Proven experience as custodian/janitor; maintenance experience preferred
-Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
-Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
-Familiarity with basic landscaping and handyman practices
-Attention to detail and conscientiousness
-High school diploma or GED
-Ability to communicate effectively with all school personnel
-Valid Idaho driver’s license
-Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Major responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
-Cleans assigned areas of the building, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
-Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into dumpsters and bags trash for proper disposal.
-Assists with general cleanup of the school.
-Emergency cleaning as needed (e.g. blood, vomit, burst water pipes).
-Maintains and may repair custodial equipment (including equipment for grounds upkeep).
-Maintains and may repair school fixtures and furniture. Assembles furniture.
-Cares for the grounds, including picking up trash, and removing ice and snow when necessary.
-Sets up equipment for special school events or programs and cleans up afterwards.
-Check emergency lights and fire extinguishers.
-Assist Facilities Manager with duties as needed

WHILE PERFORMING THE DUTIES OF THIS JOB, THE EMPLOYEE IS FREQUENTLY REQUIRED TO:
-Stoop, reach, lift, pull, push, grasp, climb a ladder a minimum of six feet, and use repetitive motions.
-Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds (items such as furniture, cleaning equipment, and chemical containers, etc.)
