TITLE: Music TeacherQUALIFICATIONS: 1. Idaho Standard Teaching Certificate endorsed for the area of assignment.2. Minimum Bachelor’s Degree.3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.REPORTS TO: Building PrincipalJOB GOAL: To develop in each pupil an appreciation of the art of music as part of general culture; to teach techniques of vocal or instrumental music expression; to discover and develop talents of pupils in the field of music; and to develop skills in listening to and reading music.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Teaches skills in music appreciation, harmony, and explorations in music, and in instrumental music (band, orchestra, instrumental ensemble) and choral music (chorus, choir, choral ensemble) to secondary pupils. Uses the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and other appropriate learning activities.2. Instructs pupil in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.3. Plans a balanced music program and organizes daily class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time.4. Provides individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.5. Uses repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary, that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of pupils.6. Controls the storage and use of school-owned property; makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required.7. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment during practice, group rehearsals, and musical performances.8. Evaluates each pupil’s musical growth and performance, assessing each individual’s contribution to the performance of the group.9. Plans, rehearses, and directs pupil’s in musical programs for the school and community.10. Selects and requisitions books, musical instruments, and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.11. Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.12. Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.13. Cooperates with the school administration in providing musical programs for school productions, graduation ceremonies, and civic functions.14. Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.15. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.16. Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.17. Maintains professional competence through in-service education provided by the district, and in self-selected professional growth activities related to music.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Trustees.EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the District, in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.TITLE: High School DramaQUALIFICATIONS: 1. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Administration and Board find appropriate and acceptableREPORTS TO: Building PrincipalPHILOSOPHICAL STATEMENT: Philosophical Statement: Aberdeen School District sponsors a variety of extra-curricular activities for the purpose of providing a wholesome setting for students to be involved in activities which promote positive character traits, opportunities for individual and group participation, and opportunities to explore interests and improve talents.JOB GOAL: To provide leadership, coordination, and innovation in assigned extra curricular areas, so that each student may derive maximum benefit from the continuing pursuit of the area involvedPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Preparing students for a minimum of a one three act play or its equivalent as approved by the principal in each semester. A category four stipend will be paid for each three act play. Each play should have a minimum of two school time and two evening performances.2. Abiding by related school board policies.3. Serving as a congruent role model including maintaining personal composure, avoidance of substance abuse, swearing, and other behaviors which would not reflect well upon the students, one's self, or the school.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: A contract will be issued by the school district listing the activity and the contract amount. An extra-curricular stipend will not be paid unless first contracted.REMUNERATION: Respective salaries are outlined in the extra-curricular salary schedule. Payment will be made either by dividing the salary amount into twelve equal payments or as a lump sum at the end of the season. Should the advisor voluntarily resign, remuneration will be based upon the percentage of the contract that is completed. In the case of dismissal during the contract period, the contract will be honored unless dismissal is the result of item(s) listed under grounds for revocation of certificates listed in the Idaho Certification Standards.EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the District, in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
