Garden Valley School District #71 is seeking a Principal to lead our staff and students in the 2022-23 school year. Garden Valley School is located in the rural community of Garden Valley in the west central mountains of Idaho. The principal contract will consist of 186 days, student contact days, professional development days, preparation/work days two weeks before school begins and two week after school ends annually. Qualified applicants must provide quality instruction and maintain a school climate that ensures each child reaches their full potential. The principal position requires individuals to be organized, compassionate and have enthusiasm for educating today’s youth. They must have strong communication skills and be able to work effectively with students, staff and parents.
The principal serves with the superintendent on the district’s leadership team and is responsible for leading the school’s faculty to continued improvement at all instructional levels. Duties include scheduling, minor budgeting, student behavior management, curriculum leadership, employee supervision and evaluation, parent relations, public relations with the community, and all other normal duties of a rural K-12 school.
Applicant's must hold a masters degree and be fully certificated as a school principal or qualify for a provisional authorization - principal certificate from the Idaho State Department of Education. Preference given to applicants with successful teaching experience and experience at the principal or assistant principal level.
The Garden Valley School is a single Pre-K – 12 campus of 285 students. We also have a historic one-room mixed elementary grade level school in Lowman, Idaho.

Master's Degree
Principal Certificate
Qualify for a provisional authorization -principal certificate from the Idaho State Department of Education

Experience required

Successful teaching in the classroom
Preferred vice principal, assistant principal or principal experience
