A bachelor's degree and four years teaching experience2. An administrator certificate or willingness and ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe3. An active interest in Waldorf education4. Strong background in curriculum, supervision, and team building5. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills to develop a productive educational experience for both teachers and students6. Problem solving skills to enhance teacher performance and improve student gradesPreferred1. Knowledge of and experience with Waldorf pedagogy2. Experience working in a public charter setting3. Three years experience as a successful administratorRoles and Responsibilities -School Leadership1. Be responsible for the management of the school in accordance with federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy2. Communicate information to parents and the community that is required by federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy3. Serve as a liaison between various stakeholders4. Delegate responsibilities when appropriate to staff and teachers5. In conjunction with the Advisory Committee of Teachers:a. Initiate, design, and implement programs to meet the specific needs of the schoolb. Establish and maintain an effective learning climate in the schoolc. Encourage community participation in school lifed. When making decisions, identify who should add input and who needs to know once the decision is madee. Ensure benchmarks and other state and Federal assessments are met in a healthy, Waldorf-appropriate mannerSupervision and Evaluation of School Staff1. Lead the hiring team in the recruiting, screening, hiring, and training of the school’s credentialed faculty and academic staff2. Work with the Director of Operations to recruit, either through contract negotiations or hiring, other academic and student support services (e.g. Occupational Therapy)3. Help credentialed faculty grow and flourish through evaluation, supervision and leadership4. Coordinate with the Director of Operations to ensure all staff members fulfill continuing professional development requirements and receive in-service training as required. The Director of Operations will be responsible for tracking dates, timelines, and completion5. Encourage, guide and assist student leaders and teachers6. Conduct staff meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the schoolCurriculum and Instruction1. The following responsibilities will be done in conjunction with the Advisory Committee of Teachers:2. Maintain Waldorf pedagogical practices3. Ensure that academic policies and curriculum are followed4. Develop systems and strategies that will lead to higher student achievement while maintaining a Waldorf focus5. Work with the Curriculum Committee to select the appropriate instructional materials6. Per Waldorf principles, collaborate with faculty and the school Board when making major curriculum and school culture decisions7. Develop and maintain a master schedule for the academic and extracurricular programs8. Supervise and evaluate all curricular and extracurricular activitiesContact with Students and Parents1. Assume responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of the students2. Meet and listen to concerns of students on a regular basis3. Maintain high standards of student conduct and implement and evolve the school’s positive disciplinary practices4. Provide guidance to individual students and address individual behavioral problems5. Keep records of any disciplinary action. Perform follow-up meetings and/or communication with students’ parents, teachers, and other administrators as needed6. Supervise the planning and delivery of intervention and referral services7. Participate in the development of and assure adherence to IEP and 504 plans8. Attend special events and other school-sponsored activities and functions9. Maintain an active relationship with students and parents based on respect, understanding, and proactive communicationFinancial and Other Duties1. Assist the Director of Operations to:a. Create the budgetb. Provide information for all state and federal reporting requirementsc. Diversify revenue streamsd. Implement the annual lotterye. Market the schoolf. Ensure accreditation is obtained and maintained2. Participate in administrative, Board, and other meetings to further the school’s mission3. Develop and track benchmarks for measuring institutional success4. Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development through such efforts as attendance of professional meetings, membership in professional organizations, enrollment in advanced courses, and by reading professional journals5. Lead the effort and work with all stakeholders to follow and evolve the school’s strategic plan6. Represent the school in a positive manner7. Follow all policies and, when appropriate, suggest policy updates to the Board8. Maintain confidentiality of staff and students9. Perform other duties as needed or requested by the BoardReporting and Duties -This position reports to the Board.
