To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for preschool aged students.

Reports to: Principal

Education required

High school diploma.

Previous experience with children preferred.

Skills required

Ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, students, parents, and the general public.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.

Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.

Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.

Evaluates pupils'; academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports. Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals.

Plans and coordinates the work of teaching assistant, parents, and volunteers in the classroom and onfield trips.

Creates an environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, interest centers, andexhibits of student's work.

Possesses computer skills necessary for this position.

Adhere to IdahoAEYC Grant Requirements.

Perform other related duties as may be assigned by the Elementary Principal and Superintendent.
