Instructs students in physical education activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises classroom, students, teaching assistants,
and volunteers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.
Meets and instructs assigned classes at the times designated.
Plans physical education program to promote development of student's physical and social skills.
Evaluates students with written and physical skills tests.
Teaches individual and team sports to students through analysis, demonstration, and explanation of sports techniques.
Organizes, leads, instructs, and referees indoor and outdoor games such as volleyball,
baseball, and basketball.
Instructs individuals or groups in beginning or advanced calisthenics, gymnastics, or
corrective exercises, determining type and level of difficulty of exercises, corrections needed, and prescribed movements.
Teaches and demonstrates the use of weights.
Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field
areas to insure overall safety of pupils and maintains control of storage and use of school owned property
.Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals.
Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior
.Confers with students, parents, school counselor and principal to resolve student problems.
Selects, stores, orders, issues, and inventories equipment, materials, and supplies used in
physical education program.
Possesses computer skills necessary for this position.

SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, students,
parents, and the general public.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to
plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and the needs and abilities of students.
Ability to work in a friendly manner and to develop effective working relationships with
students, staff, and parents.
Ability to perform duties in accordance with Board of Education policies.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly stands and walks.
The employee frequently uses hand to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
The employee occasionally climbs or balances and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside
weather conditions.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Education required

Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate endorsed in P.E. and Health 6 through 12.
