The School Nurse will be responsible for providing medical assistance to school-age students and they complete multiple tasks each day, from assessing minor injuries to requesting emergency services.Specific School Nurse job duties include but are not limited to:• Conducting student hearing and vision screenings• Educating students on hygiene and safety practices• Dispensing prescription medications to students per physician instructions• Verifying vaccination records• Taking students’ temperatures when fever is suspected• Writing any necessary Medical Plans and Seizure Action Plans• Treating minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes and bruises• Contacting parents when students are ill or injured
Education required
Have graduated from an accredited school of practical nursing and hold an Idaho license in good standing as a licensed practical nurse.
Experience required
Have a minimum of two years experience as a licensed practical nurse with at least one-year experience working with a pediatric population.
Skills required
Be CPR and first aid certified or attains such certification within 30 days of date of hire.
