REPORTS TO: Principal and Teacher Supervisors.
SUMMARY:
Assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities and student supervision inside and
outside of the classroom. May assist office staff in their duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: ( Other duties may be assigned.)
●Assists in small group pupil instruction; tutors pupils at teacher's request;
●Assists teachers in maintaining discipline and other functions.
●Assists with the setup of the classroom and prepares materials for specialized instructional units.
●Handles attendance reports and related clerical functions with the teacher.
●Assists in assembling/hanging materials on bulletin boards and keeping displays current.
●Operates standard school equipment such as laminator, copier, audiovisual, etc.
●May escort children to and from various rooms and provide lunchroom and playground supervision.
●Assists in the administration of basic first aid.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises students under teacher direction.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma. Previous experience with children preferred.

SKILLS and ABILITIES:
●Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
●Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals.
●Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations to parents,
students, and other employees of the district.
●Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
●Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
●Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
●Ability to work in a friendly manner and to develop effective working relationships with
students, staff and the school community.
●Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements, Board of Education
policies, and applicable laws.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly sits and talks.
The employee occasionally stands; walks; climbs or balances; and stoops, kneels, crouches,
or crawls. The employee occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. The employee
pushes items of 50 lbs. such as moving/rearranging furniture. The noise level in the work
environment is usually loud at a standard acceptable level for this environment. The employee is continuously responsible for the safety, well-being and work output of students.

Length of Employment:
AS assigned by Principal and/or Superintendent: 7.5 hours per day

1.Salary based on education and experience.
