I.              TITLE:   Network Manager

II.           QUALIFICATIONS:

A.     Four-year degree in network or computer related field preferred. Two year associates degree in networking or equivalent required.

B.     Industry standard certification in networking preferred (Security +, Network+, CCNA).

C.     Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.

D.   Project Management and leadership skills for managing projects and the teams involved with them. 

E.   Strong Writen and verbal communication skills to coordinate with team members and management to explain technical issues.

F.     Organization and time management skills to keep projects on track and within budget.

G.   Must be a team player and be willing to cross train in other areas to serve as backup.

H.      Experiences in most or all of these areas is preferred:

1.      Able to work with enterprise level network and domain-based systems

2.      The following PC and/or server operating systems: Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows Server 2016, 2019, Linux etc. 

3.      Network design, administration, and protocols

4.      Typical TCP/IP client-server applications such as telnet, ftp, tftp, smtp, http, ssh, https, ntp etc.

5.      Internet administration using firewalls and filters

6.      Router and switch configuration and management

7.      Experience with MS Active Directory, MS Group Policy, MS Exchange, etc.

8.      Experience with VMWare 

9.      Experience with enterprise-level VoIP telephone systems

10.  Experience with Backup systems  i.e. Backup Exec, vRanger, Deduplication

I.      Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

III.         REPORTS TO:  IT Operations Coordinator

IV.        JOB GOALS:

         To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.

         Helps design, monitor and administer the district's network and major network applications and provide training to appropriate district staff.

V.           ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A.           Manages and designs the district's network in collaboration with Operations Coordinator and Endpoints Administrator.

B.           Provides pro-active network monitoring, security and troubleshooting in order to provide maximum speed, availability, and prioritization of resource utilization.

C.           Configures and manage network routers, switches and servers.

D.           Installs and manages Cisco/Aruba Access Control services and associated hardware.

E.            Installs and manages wireless devices including authentication and security.

F.            Installs and manages Cisco Call Manager VOIP phone system and associated systems such as Cisco Unity Servers.

G.      Installs and manages firewalls and filters.

H.           Assists IT Operations Coordinator & Endpoints Administrator with the selection, installation, and management of e-mail servers, directory services, and user accounts.

I.             Assists IT Operations Coordinator & Endpoints Administrator with the installation, monitoring, and management of both physical and virtual server environments

J.             Manages IP addressing and ACLs.

K.           Installs and manages network application and monitoring software.

L.           Provides information to Technology staff needed to prepare grant applications involving networking such as e-rate applications.

M.         Maintains familiarity of all system operations of the technology center to provide backup to other technology center staff.

         N.       Work with outside vendors to contract for critical systems support with SLAs.

O.      Manage the configuration and implementation of network routers, switches, and servers.

P.       Install, manage, and maintain network monitoring and syslog aggregation systems.

Q.      Supervises the network team.

R.      Project management reponsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

- Project planning, setting goals, project milestones, and completion plans.

- Maintaining project timeframes, budgeting estimates and status reports.

- Coordinating project team members and developing schedules and individual responsibilities.

- Implementing IT strategies that deliver projects on schedule and within budget.

- Using project management tools to track project performance and schedule adherence.

- Conducting risk assessments for projects.

- Organizing meetings to discuss project goals and progress. 

    S.           Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.

T.            Has regular and predictable attendance.

VI.        OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A.           Performs all other duties as assigned.

VI.        TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

        This position is scheduled for 8 hours per day, 254 days per year.  Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy.  Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 14 - 16 - $23.06 to $31.77 per hour depending on experience.

        This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law.  The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.

VII.      EVALUATION:

        Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the IT Operations Coordinator in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.

        This position has been given an overall physical classification of medium duty.
