JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: MAINTENANCE SUPERVISORREPORTS
TO: Superintendent
JOB SUMMARY: Directs the buildings, custodial and grounds/maintenance staff to operate at safe and efficient conditions at all times. Provides students and staff with clean, safe, and attractive buildings, well-kept grounds, and efficiently maintained equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in supervision and building maintenance. Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties and responsibilities listed below:
Knowledge and experience of heating, ventilation, air-conditioning (HVAC) and electrical codes.
Ability to work well with others
Desired – Demonstrate ability to accomplish installation and maintenance of electrical and HVAC pneumatic controls
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Performs such school-related duties as assigned by the superintendent.
2. Develops and administers the maintenance, custodial and grounds program within district policy.
3. Organizes staff assignments and hours, equipment and supplies to maintain and efficient, safe and healthy environment.
4. Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates all personnel and recommends them for continuation of employment or termination.
5. Coordinates with administrators the use of facilities and equipment for student groups, civic and/or other special interest groups.
6. Coordinates with suppliers, contractors, and other service organizations all activities necessary to have a high standard of plant operation.
7. Coordinates with state agencies and safety inspectors all the necessary functions to meet standards of high efficiency and safety.
8. Purchases, in cooperation with and under the authorization of the Superintendent, all necessary supplies and equipment needed to maintain a high standard of services. Stays within the limitations of the budget.
9. Checks all supply orders for completeness and accuracy.
10. Trains personnel on usage of products, equipment and techniques.
11. Maintains records and reports information to supervisor on a routine schedule.
12. Coordinates and performs all repairs with minimal interruption to educational activities.
13. Maintains and services equipment and performs repairs so as not to cause a potential safety hazard, constantly researching for improvements.
14. Maintains an inventory of shop equipment, supplies, parts and keys.
15. Maintains a clean and organized shop.
16. Maintains district properties with weed control and fertilizer application programs.
17. Performs odd jobs such as carpentry, finish work, painting, tile work, minor electrical/plumbing, and sprinkler repairs.
18. Works with boiler and/or heating/air conditioning contractors for the safe and efficient heating and cooling of the school.
19. Coordinates work on floor maintenance, including gymnasium floor refinishing.
20. Operates all district tools and vehicles in a safe manner.
21. Acts as Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) designee and perform duties as required by AHERA.
22. Deals with students, parents, staff and others in a positive, encouraging manner.
23. Observes the rules of the school and principal.
24. Knows and follows district policy and chain of command.
25.Acts ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
This position shall be considered in all respects “employment at will.” The employment period and other descriptions and terms set forth in this job description shall not create a property right in the employee and such are set forth only to advise the employee of when and what type of services will be required by the District so long as the employment continues.
An employee working in this position shall at all times be subject to the direction of the person to whom said employee has primary responsibility or said person’s designee(s) and at all times shall be subject to the rules, regulations, and policies of the District as promulgated by the Board of Trustees.
Each employee shall be held responsible for having knowledge of said District’s rules, regulations, and policies which have been reduced to writing and made available to the employee at the building principal’s office, the high school library, and the district-wide administration office.
The employment period shall be 8.0 hours per day five days per week for 260 days of the year with leave as specified in the Classified Employee Handbook and the Glenns Ferry School District Policy Manual. The salary shall be commensurate with the employee’s appropriate place on the approved wage scale.
Performance of this position will be evaluated periodically by the superintendent or his/her designee in conformance with District policy and procedure.
