Palouse Prairie Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to serve as a full-time teaching assistant for the 2022-2023 school year. The teaching assistant will support teachers by working with students individually or in small groups. In addition, other responsibilities may include supervision during morning, afternoon and recess duties. Experience: working with children and youth at the age levels desired in the advertised position; following written and oral instructions; reading, writing and speaking English; performing routine tasks as directed. Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, computer skills necessary for producing reports, records, lists and forms as required; collaborating with others regarding outcomes to be attained; learning, reasoning and making judgments. Physical abilities: observing student behavior, proper transferring of students which may require some lifting, positioning, and/or escorting students according to daily routines; physically supporting students as required in emergency situations (such as fire evacuation, or in an accident where aid must be provided.), physically be able to hike, bike, ski, snowshoe. Education: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Preferred: completed two years of study (minimum of 32 credits) at an institution of higher education or have obtained an associate's degree or higher. Knowledge of disciplines taught, how students learn and develop, differing styles of student learning, and various instructional strategies.
