The Idaho Department of Correction has a vacancy for an Instructor, at the Idaho State Correctional Center in Boise, Idaho. Applicants must be willing to work in a Correctional environment and the incumbent will be required to work in direct contact with students both one-on-one and in a group setting. The desirable candidate should have experience working with adult learners, students with English as a second language, and knowledge of adult basic literacy/GED curriculum.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Working with residents in a state correctional facility towards completion of college and career readiness standards, computer applications, and other post-secondary learning opportunities
• Working with students toward Adult Basic Education reading and math
• Working with non-English speaking students to learn English in a non-traditional classroom setting
• Provides instructions and evaluate student's progress
• Monitor student's behavior to maintain discipline and ensure safety and security of fellow students, self, staff, equipment, and materials
• Maintain student records and prepare conduct reports
Education required
Candidates must be eligible for an Idaho Standard Secondary Education Certificate
OR eligible for an Occupational Specialist Certificate
OR have a Bachelor's degree and two years experience teaching individuals in a group setting
Skills required
•Fluent in Spanish language
