Garden Valley School District #71 Guidance Counselor Qualifications: Valid Idaho Pupil Personnel Services with a Standard Counselor Endorsement or alternative. Ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public. Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Help students overcome problems that impede learning and to assist them in making educational, occupational, and life plans. Guide individuals and groups of students through the development of educational and career plans. Consult with personnel, teachers, staff and parents regarding the developmental needs of students. Refer students with problems to appropriate resources as needed. Coordinate the scheduling of students and resolve scheduling conflicts. Provide information on the counseling and guidance services of the school to staff, students, parents, community and SRO. Coordinate and administer the testing program of the district at the school. Interpret the results of these tests to students, parents, and the school staff. Function as a member of the Child Student Team relative to special education student placement. Plan the school's counseling program. Provide crisis intervention Seek out opportunities for personal growth. Maintain high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality of student information.
