Grades Teacher (1st - 8th)

Peace Valley Charter School Southwest / Boise Classroom Teacher Primary Full Time Posted 2Y ago

About this job

Curious, engaged first grade students seek teachers to guide them through their educational journey. Our students are excited to hear the fairy tales associated with Waldorf first grade, they love to play outside, and are ready to learn more about friendship and life in general. Most of our rising first grade students are graduates of our Waldorf kindergarten program, and are already familiar with the rhythms and expectations of Waldorf schooling. They are a bright bunch of children, with sweetness, eagerness, and tenacity that we hope their new teacher will nourish throughout the years.

About Us -

Peace Valley is a young K-8 charter school located in the growing, bustling small city of Boise, Idaho. As the first Waldorf school in our area, we have the privilege to grow alongside our community and bring this wonderful form of education to families who would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience it. We are lucky to have an active parent body of dedicated folks who regularly volunteer at our school and are passionate about being involved in their children's education in a real way.

As a school, we at Peace Valley aim to bring forth healthy, confident, free-thinking, and self-directed children who are passionately engaged with education. We want to empower all of our students to contribute responsibly to the world and to appreciate the importance of peace, respect, and compassion.

Teachers will loop with their class from 1st - 8th grade, with an option of participating in either a lower grades loop from 1st through 5th grade or an upper grades loop from 6th through 8th grade.

Employment Requirements -

Candidates will have a valid Idaho State Teaching Certificate or the ability to become certified by the State Department of Education. The candidate must be willing to complete training and certification in Waldorf curriculum and methodology if they do not already have a certificate from a recognized Waldorf teacher training program. Our goal is that our faculty will represent the best of both worlds - dual certified with Idaho State teaching credentials and Waldorf certification. Additional interests, skills, and initiative in various areas such as drawing, singing, movement, and drama are also desired.

Benefits -

As a public charter school in the State of Idaho, Peace Valley employees working 20 or more hours/week are eligible for PERSI retirement benefits. Salary is on par with the State Department of Education’s career ladder. Peace Valley provides ongoing professional development to ensure that our teachers seek and practice best teaching methods.
