American Heritage Charter School Counselor’s Job ResponsibilitiesGain and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of our charter school’s mission and vision.Collaboratively work with other school staff to implement American Heritage Charter School’s mission and vision.Familiarize yourself with the expectations of the board and founders by attending board meetings.Become an integral part of the staff by attending all extracurricular activities possible.To ensure all students at the end of 8th grade have a written education plan that has been designed by collaborative effort between the counselor, student, and parents. (This will fulfill an IDAPA rule.)To help students develop a career plan and help them find internships for the upper high school students.To ensure data on high school students is recorded and updated weekly and presented to the team at a minimum of bi-monthly meetings.To function as a member of a Child Study Team for students’ with disabilitiesTo help with the maintenance of student's’ permanent academic records (including oversight in conjunction with teachers of the portfolios as required in our Performance Certificate).Help support school’s academic and character education by providing professional development in Great Expectations, Ron Clark’s Essential 55, and Cowboy Ethics.To provide counseling at the academic and emotional level when necessary.Assist students with college and scholarship applications by making them aware of deadlines and opportunities.Pursue professional growthOther duties assigned by administration
