Position Title: Training for Food Service Manager
Reports To: Lead or Assistant Building Administrator
SUMMARY: This is a training position to prepare to Manage School Food Service Program

Salary Range: 15.00-17.00 per hour during training period, 17.00-20.00 per hour upon completion of training
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Calculates recipe quantities for the purpose of assuring adequate meals to meet the need of staff and students, without creating excess waste.
Cleans utensils, equipment, and storage, food preparation and serving areas for the purpose of maintaining safe and sanitary conditions.
Directs assigned personnel, student workers and/or volunteers (e.g. performing kitchen duties, assigning work schedules, etc.) for the purpose of guiding the individuals in performing their functions in a safe and efficient manner.
Inspects food items and/or supplies for the purpose of verifying quantity and specifications of orders and/or complying with mandated health standards.
Maintains food and supplies inventory for the purpose of assuring adequate supply to provide the planned meals to students and staff.
Maintains food service equipment for the purpose of maintaining safe operating conditions.
Orders food and supplies for the purpose of preparing meals to meet the nutritional needs of students and staff. Prepares documentation (e.g. employee time cards, safety and food processing regulations, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
Prepares food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and projected meal requirements.
Responds to inquiries of staff and families for the purpose of providing information regarding the type and/or cost of meals.
Stocks food, condiments, and supplies for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items.
Trains employees and evaluates job performance for the purpose of achieving success in the child nutrition program.
Is Responsible for all state reporting, and compliance with USDA food service regulations.
Collaborates with state directors to maintain a high quality school food service program that meets the needs of all students.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May occasionally supervise students.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Manage inventory control and security. Understand and comply with all USDA child nutrition program and the State of Idaho department of Education Requirements for child nutrition.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Previous experience preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and routine reports. Ability to present information and respond to questions from administrators, teachers, students, parents, and secretaries. Ability to communicate using correct grammar. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written form. Prefer that applicant is proficient in English and Spanish.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and common fractions.

REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and/or oral instructions.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate personal and mainframe computers and related software. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all related corporation policies and state requirements. Ability to pass state mandated exams that relate to operating USDA food service programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift and pull or push articles up to 50 pounds. He/she is constantly working to meet deadlines with severe time restraints.
