We are an innovative school seeking an educational support professional to assist our teachers and develop the next generation through specialized curriculum. You will work closely with the teacher in your assigned classroom and support them in their duties. Flexibility is key for this role, as your tasks may change from day to day. Typical activities include monitoring student progress, working with students in groups and individually during lessons and creating progress notes and reports. Work could also included substituting. The ideal candidate is caring, compassionate and dedicated to the students’ success. They have a versatile skill set and a willingness to proactively look for ways to support the teacher. This position starts out with part-time hours and does offer full-time potential if you are a good fit.

PiSTEM teachers plan by deeply understanding student data and determining what group and individual supports are needed for their students to move forward on complex projects.
This planning requires teachers to consider not only how students are integrating content information into their projects but also how they are applying cognitive skills(e.g. hypothesizing) that stretch across all content areas and the habits of success(e.g. perseverance) that allow them to prepare for the world beyond the classroom.
PiSTEM teachers do not see themselves as disseminators of knowledge but instead as facilitators and coaches to their students.
What You’ll Do
Works under the direct supervision of a Executive Director to support various K-6 teachers in a para professional capacity and support the office during the lunch hour with projects and answering phones. You may also be asked to support the teachers as a subsitute teacher or to subsitute for their para professonal. This position is flexible, depending on the need. As a para professional you will Assists teachers with conducting lessons, managing the classroom and developing materials. You will help to empower students through programs to enhance their academic and social achievements, work with computers and specialized AV equipment to make these resources available to the teacher during lessons, and act as a nurturing and encouraging influence for students during lessons. You will also help to monitor the classroom and minimize distractions and disruptions
What You Need
*RBT certification preferred.
Experience working as a substitute teacher for K-8 is preferred Commitment to uphold Pi STEM’s values,and believe that all children deserve a rigorous and equitable education that prepares them for college and for life Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development, Education or another Liberal Arts program preferred Previous experience working with elementary school students as a paraprofessional Familiarity with learning management systems and other educational software Clear health and background check
