JOB TITLE:                          Certified Secondary Teacher REPORTS TO:                     Building Administrator JOB SUMMARY:               To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in a secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic, social, and emotional potential within the job assignment. QUALIFICATIONS:          A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in content area/grade level or related discipline application to teaching assignment; a current Idaho Teaching Certification with appropriate endorsement; demonstrated ability to accomplish the duties and responsibilities listed below.  DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Plan and implement an instructional program that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students, consistent with the District's approved curriculum and teaching methodology;Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum, department, school and District goals.Establish and maintain open lines of communication and cooperative relations with the administrations, students, parents, and colleagues.Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students within the limits of resources provided by the District.Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.  Upon request of the immediate supervisor, produce written evidence of preparation.Use instructional materials adopted by the District and employ methods that are most appropriate for meeting objectives and targeting Idaho State Standards.Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.Attend staff meetings; participate in Professional Learning Communities; and serve on staff committees to plan instructional goals, objectives, and methods; assist in the selection of instructional equipment and materials. Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities and be responsible for the knowledge of school evacuation procedures and lock-down procedures and the ability to implement those procedures independently in emergency situations.Communicate with staff, parents, district personnel and others in a positive and encouraging manner.Knows and follows school policy and the chain of command.Acts ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
