Job descriptionOur elementary teachers work as a multidisciplinary team and provide support in multidisciplinary instruction, but are able to focus their instruction on a specific content area such as ELA, Math, or STEM education across a three grade-levels, either 4th-6th or 1st-3rd.We are currently seeking an elementary teacher, passionate about ELA instruction, using methods embodied by the Science of Reading.At the core of our entire program is our STEM-focused Project-based Learning. All of our teachers help to deliver content focused on a Driving Question. Curriculum materials that have been selected are consistent with our STEM mission. We use Science of Reading focused and Orton-Gillingham based reading materials, including All about Reading readers, Reading Horizon digital support, and Logic of English core curriculum as well as an additional writing program.Pi STEM Learning Environment:Teaching at Pi STEM is unlike teaching in a traditional environment. Our teachers know the individual strengths and growth areas for each student. We empower students to own their learning.By design, our school is made up of small communities where every student is known. Our school is intentionally heterogeneous and reflect the diverse demographics of the community.Pi STEM teachers plan by deeply understanding student data and determining what group and individual supports are needed for their students to move forward on complex projects.This planning requires teachers to consider not only how students are integrating content information into their projects but also how they are applying cognitive skills (e.g. hypothesizing) that stretch across all content areas and the habits of success (e.g. perseverance) that allow them to prepare for the world beyond the classroom.Pi STEM teachers do not see themselves as disseminators of knowledge but instead as facilitators and coaches to their students.We are committed to continual growth at Pi STEM. We Prioritize developing leaders from within and are dedicated to providing professional development opportunities built into the academic year.
