ELEMENTARY DANCE TEACHER

Terms of Employment
Salary: Aligned to the Idaho State Dept of Education Career Ladder
2024-25 Work Contract: 186 Days

Position Summary
The Elementary Dance Teacher will develop students' skills and competence in technique, performance, and choreography in various styles of dance, including ballet, jazz, hip hop, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
-Current Idaho teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement
-Strong verbal and oral communication skills
-Self-motivated and strong analytical skills
-Attention to detail, prioritization skills, and time management
-Valid Idaho identification
-Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Major responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
-Develops and administers dance curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives
-Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning
-Teaches knowledge and skills in multiple dance disciplines, choreographs and organizes performances, and selects appropriate music; promotes creative thinking and analysis in all related subject areas
-Designs learning activities to demonstrate the application of dance to everyday existence and problem solving
-Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed
-Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings, or by conducting research
-Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents
-Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom
-Coordinates with other professional staff members and participates in faculty meetings and committees
-Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal as designated by the Executive Director
