Position: Early Childhood Special Education Teacher
Department: Special Education Department
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Location: TSD 401 District Office, Preschool Classroom
Salary Schedule: Per master agreement
Certification: Idaho License with Early Childhood and Special Education Endorsements

Summary: The Special Education Preschool Teacher is responsible for providing an instructional program specially designed to meet the needs of students (ages 3-5) with disabilities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Works with a team of specialists to evaluate students to determine eligibility for Special Education services following Idaho State Department of Education’s Special Education Laws.Develops effective individualized education programs (IEPs) for each student.Establishes and maintains a classroom that is safe, stimulating and age appropriate.Provides instructional activities that support progress towards student IEP goals in the areas of language, play, motor development, adaptive skills, social interaction and academic skill development.Works closely with a multidisciplinary team, such as speech therapist, occupational therapist and physical therapist, to provide collaborative instruction to students.Required Skills/Abilities:Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to maintain a calm and patient demeanor with all students.
