JOB SUMMARY:
Provide developmentally appropriate instruction in the early childhood special education setting to students ages 3-5 who qualify for special education and related services. Assist students in developing skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continued education.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Idaho teaching certificate with Early Childhood Special Education (Pre-K-3) or Blended Early Childhood General/Special Education endorsement
2. Strong background in effective teaching methods, developmentally appropriate classroom activities, and effective classroom management
3. Strong background in early childhood curriculum and the Idaho Early Learning eGuidelines
4. Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
5. Works well with students, staff, and the public
6. Excellent organizational skills
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
8. Ability to work under and adhere to deadlines

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction
1. Lead the evaluation team in completing the Referral through Eligibility determination
2. Develop and implement annual Individual Educational Programs (IEPs) for early childhood special education students, based on current strengths, needs, and parent input
3. Adhere to procedural requirements, including special education and district timelines
4. Coordinate the delivery of early childhood special education services outlined in each student's IEP
5. Design and implement lessons with an appropriate level of difficulty which provide content in a logical and sequential manner
6. Promote active learning using structured and unstructured activities that foster the social, physical, cognitive, and emotional development of young children
7. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the physical limitations of the classroom and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
8. Analyze and interpret student data to develop and modify instructional activities
9. Follow the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives, in lesson plans, classroom instruction, unit planning, and assessments
