Job Title: Business Manager
Status: Full-time, year-round position
Supervisor: Superintendent and Board of Trustees
Job Summary:
The School District Business Manager is responsible for managing the financial operations of the district, including budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and financial reporting. The Business Manager ensures that all financial practices comply with applicable laws, regulations, and district policies. This role also oversees the district's operational departments, such as transportation, food services, and maintenance, ensuring cost-effective and efficient services are provided to support educational goals.
Education and/or Experience:
A minimum of three or more years related experience in public or private school and/or governmental finance/accounting rules, regulations and ethics; or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
Qualifications:
A working knowledge of accounting, general ledger, payroll, fixed assets, supervisory and office procedures.
Strong understanding of public school finance laws, budget development, and financial reporting.
Proven leadership and team management experience.
Preference(s): Knowledge with School ERP Pro software.
Key Responsibilities:
Acts ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
Acts as advisor to the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees on all questions relating to the business and financial affairs of the school district.(Participation in evening School Board meetings may be required.)
Manage the overall business and financial operations of the school system including budget development, cash management, purchasing, and balance sheet chart of accounts in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Prepare and analyze financial information for the annual fiscal year end audit.
Processes district payroll data and salary records for all district employees and maintains accurate, up-to-date files of all employee payroll and benefits information
Receives, deposits, and monitors investments of all District funds as designated by the Board of Trustees and/or Superintendent, in accordance with the provisions of the public depository laws.
Coordinates and implements District budgets, providing applicable monthly reports to: Superintendent, Board of Trustees, School Principals, and other supervisors.
Other assigned duties designated by the Superintendent.
Terms of Employment:
This position shall be considered in all respects “employment at will”. The “employment period”
and other descriptions and terms set forth in this job description shall not create a property right
for the employee. These are set forth only to advise the employee of when and what type of
services will be required by the district so long as the employment continues.
Salary:
$49,712.00 min/DOE
Closing Date: Open until filled.
This position is contingent upon Board approval. It is an exempt administrative position, working 12 months a year with full benefits. The starting salary is no less than $49,712.00 and negotiable depending on education and/or experience.
