Bishop Kelly High School in Boise, Idaho is seeking candidates to fill the position of Computer Science and/or Math Teacher. The ideal candidate will excel in teaching secondary computer science and/or secondary math and will have at least three years of experience in teaching at the middle and/or high school level.

The ideal candidate will have the experience, passion and competencies to develop Bishop Kelly High School Students in each of the following areas;

Empowered Learner- Students leverage technology to take an active role in choosing, achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goals, informed by the learning sciences.
Digital Citizen- Students recognize the rights, responsibilities and opportunities of living, learning and working in an interconnected digital world, and they act and model in ways that are safe, legal and ethical.
Knowledge Constructor- Students critically curate a variety of resources using digital tools to construct knowledge, produce creative artifacts and make meaningful learning experiences for themselves and others.
Innovative Designer- Students use a variety of technologies within a design process to identify and solve problems by creating new, useful or imaginative solutions.
Computational Thinker- Students develop and employ strategies for understanding and solving problems in ways that leverage the power of technological methods to develop and test solutions.
Creative Communicator- Students communicate clearly and express themselves creatively for a variety of purposes using the platforms, tools, styles, formats and digital media appropriate to their goals.
Global Collaborator- Students use digital tools to broaden their perspectives and enrich their learning by collaborating with others and working effectively in teams locally and globally.

Key responsibilities include:
Building a classroom culture in which students love computer science;
Motivating students to think critically and take ownership over their own learning;
Preparing students to take the AP Computer Science exams and to use technology to tackle complex math and science topics;
Developing strong relationships with parents and students, creating investment in school culture and academics.
Driving academic outcomes by analyzing student work, studying data, and implementing high-leverage instructional moves to ensure dramatic gains for all students;
Competency Requirements
Have a foundational understanding of at least one computer programming language.
Hold a Bachelor’s degree with an outstanding record of academic achievement and leadership.
Hold a computer science teaching, or math, endorsement or equivalent competency.
Experience and competence in project based learning, experiential learning and inquiry.
Education and Experience Requirements
BS in Education or equivalent.
At least 3 years experience working in similar capacity.
Preferred; Masters Degree and 5+ years experience.

The ideal candidate will have the abilities and competence to teach any of the following computer science courses; Exploring Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer Hardware, AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science, Mobile App Development, Web Design and possibly some math and/or engineering courses if needed.

EVALUATION:

Evaluation of the performance of this teaching position will be conducted by the Principal and/or Vice-Principal.


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Length of Employment: Standard Teaching Contract length of 185-190 days.

Daily Schedule: The workday of the BK Faculty begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays of each school day. Attendance at on-site school activities and selected off-site activities is considered a responsibility of this position.
