**White Pine is looking for a part-time College and Career Advisor for the 2021-2022 school year.****If you are interested in White Pine, please complete the application below and submit with the following to hr@wpcscougars.org:**QUALIFICATIONS:Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor Degree with a major in communication, business, advising, guidance, education, or a related fieldCandidate must be able to work in a multi-task environment as a positive team playerMust be willing to take professional development courses as required by the State Department of EducationPreferred candidates will have successful experience working as an AdvisorCandidate must have strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.Must be able to use technology effectively to meet the needs of students.Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.REPORTS TO:Building AdministratorJOB GOALS:To develop, implement, and support opportunities for students which leverage the resources in our community to maximize student achievement outside of school.Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, academic advisors promote student success and respond to identified student needs by developing and managing things that addresses academic, career, and post-secondary path development for all students as well as performs related work as required.** ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**Demonstrate knowledge of advising techniquesEstablish goals for program appropriatelyExhibit knowledge of State and Federal regulations and resourcesDesign program using small groups, in-class activities, and parent/community informational meetings and presentationsAssist students in forming academic, college and career plans based on student needs including a 4-year planProvide career exploration through career guest speakers and labsAssist students and families in understanding and navigating the complexities of financial aid, including providing hands-on assistance with the FAFSA and scholarship applications, presentations on financial aid or literacy, using financial aid literacy curriculum, and the benefits and how-tos of college savings plansUse appropriate resources to meet needsDemonstrate flexibility and responsivenessProvide assistance about career choices, career planning, internships and career interest inventoriesOrganize and facilitate visits to college campus (physical and/or virtual) including official tour, presentations by admissions, financial aid, academic departments, athletics, student affairs, residence life, multicultural affairs, or other college departmentsProvide parent and family activities that can include one-on-one or small group advising designed to meet the specific needs of the students engaged in the activity. Activities include providing individual assistance to families on their students’ college choices, college planning, financial aid planning, etc.
