Filer School District is accepting applications for a full-time Light Maintenance Custodian at the Elementary School for the 2021-2022 school year. The salary is according to the negotiated salary schedule. This position will be open until filled. Such alternatives to the qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable.Primary Responsibility to: Maintenance SupervisorJob Goal: In order to provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient learning environment, the custodian shall carry out the following performance tasks:1. Keep buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas neat and clean at all times.2. Regulate heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the seasons and to insure economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.3. Shovel, plow and/or sand walks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate.4. Raise the United States flag at or before 8:00 A.M. on each school day and lower it at or after 3:30 P.M.(if during your appointed working hours).5. Sweep/ vacuum classrooms daily and dust furniture and window sills.6. Clean corridors after school day and during the day when required.7. Clean and disinfect toilet bowls, urinals and bathroom floors daily. Clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.8. Wash all windows on both sides whenever they warrant it.9. Keep the grounds free from rubbish.10. Perform such yard chores as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like as required to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.11. Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in good state of preservation.12. Clean all chalkboards daily.13. Make such minor building repairs as he/she is capable of.14. Report major problems to the principal and maintenance supervisor.15. Report immediately to the principal and maintenance supervisor any damage to school property.16. Remain on the school premises during working hours ( unless authorized by your supervisor).17. All work must be completed on the designated work day (Monday through Friday). No work is to be left undone to be completed on another day (unless authorized by your supervisor).18. Assume responsibility closing of the building each school day, determining before leaving work that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.19. Keep an inventory of supplies and equipment on hand.20. Move furniture or equipment (weighing up to 50 pounds) within buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal and maintenance supervisor.21. Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish and waste.22. Use supplies and chemicals properly and safely according to instructions on the labels on the manufacturer’s containers.23. Cooperate with staff members to provide a good working relationship within the District.24. No overtime unless authorized by maintenance supervisor.25. Perform light maintenance i.e. minor repairs of sinks and toilets, minor repair of outlets, switches, and light fixtures, basic trouble shooting of furnaces, minor vacuum repairs and etc. If the task is outside the scope of the worker, then the worker will coordinate with the maintenance supervisor/principal to complete the task.26. Lift and carry 50 lbs.27. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.Terms of Employment:Salary according to classified salary scheduleThis position shall be considered in all respects “employment at will” and the employee is subject to discharge by the District at any time without cause. The “employment period” and other descriptions and terms set forth in this job description shall not create a property right in the employee and such are set forth only to advise the employee of when and what type of services will be required by the district so long as the employment continues.Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the maintenance supervisor and/or the building principal.
