**QUALIFICATIONS**
High school diploma or General Education Degree
Previous experience in large-scale food service preferred
A general understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets
Demonstrated ability to work with children and adults to perform assigned duties

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY TO**
Head Cook and Food Service Supervisor

**JOB SUMMARY**
To assist in the maintenance of an orderly, safe, and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria by helping and supervising students at mealtime.

**MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

Supervise students in the cafeteria during meals
Maintain a system for orderly food purchase by pupils, disposal of food waste, and return of trays and utensils
See that students are seated at their assigned areas
Circulate among the tables during the mealtime so as to be available to children who need help and to resolve any minor problems that arise
Enforce all school rules
Inform the assigned teacher and/or building principal of any serious infractions of discipline rules by students
Ensure the cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas
Organize groups for orderly dismissal from the cafeteria
Assume responsibility for his or her continuing professional growth and development through such efforts as attendance at inservices
Seek assistance should emergencies arise
Represent the school district in a positive manner
Know and follow school district policy and chain of command
Perform other duties as assigned

**EVALUATION**
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the head cook and/or food service supervisor in conformance with federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy.

**TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT**
This position shall be considered in all respects “employment at will”. The “employment period” and other descriptions and terms set forth in this job description shall not create a property right for the employee.
