JOB TITLE: Assistant Superintendent
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
JOB SUMMARY: An educational leader that is part of the district administrative team that includes the Superintendent, Director of Special Education, Federal Programs, and Director of Information and Human Resources This position will include responsibility for oversight and support of Federal Programs, Title IX, Facilities, and Maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS: Holds the Idaho Certification for Superintendent. Individual must have demonstrated skills in educational leadership, systems management, database technology systems, Federal programs and grants, and data analysis. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT
Acts as an advisor to the Superintendent
Oversees the school district’s classified operations. Responsible for the evaluations of the Director of Federal Programs, Transportation, Maintenance, Technology, and Food Services.
Oversees the budgets related to areas of responsibility.
Prepares/coordinates specifications for all purchases that are to be submitted for bid and have specifications approved by the appropriate person prior to publication. Prepares for and attends bid openings.
Develops short and long range maintenance plans.
Oversees the construction of facilities and maintenance projects.
Keeps the Superintendent informed and works cooperatively with all other administrators in school and district-related matters.
Leads appropriate professional and district wide committees and meetings.
Assists in the development of budgets including staffing needs, instructional materials and resources, and provisions for the activities of the district.
Attends school board meetings to address questions that may arise regarding areas of responsibility.
Title IV coordinator and compliance officer for the District.
Safety coordinator for the district and chairs the district safety committee.
Promotes and assists in the coordination of effective communication among all members of the school community.
Develops and maintains good relations with the school community.
Serves on district committees, participates in district activities, and represents the district as warranted, or as directed by the Superintendent.
Performs other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent.
Federal Programs Supervisor Responsibilities
Assures compliance with State and Federal Laws as they pertain to Federal Programs.
Works with superintendent, directors, and principals on district Continuous Improvement Plan.
Works with superintendent on all Title budgets.
Works with building administrations on structuring Continuous Improvement Plans.
Writes the district’s Consolidated Plan and submits it to the State Department of Education.
Manages all Title programs including but not limited to: Title I, Title I-C, Title I-N&D, Title III (LEP), Title II-A. This includes setting and managing the budgets and program requirements, assisting with hiring staff funded through these programs, conducting staff meetings of individuals within these programs, providing professional development for these programs, guiding purchases of supplies, curriculum and resources.
Sets and evaluates district policies as they support Federal Programs
Works closely with the State Department of Education and attends state meetings that deal with Federal Programs.
Writes additional grants available through Federal Programs. Monitors any extra funds received through these grants.
Keeps all job descriptions current for positions covered by Federal Program funds.
Works closely with administration to guide effective evaluation of personnel and programs.
Oversees usage of technology used with Federal Programs curriculum.
Oversees student data to assure Federal Program student achievement gains.
Advocates for Federal Program students and assures that the district strategic plan goals and action plans include these sub-populations.
Works with all staff to assure effective communication with parents; supervises and works with Migrant Family Liaison.
Monitors efforts to recognize Homeless students and offers services that meet their needs.
Performs such school-related duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
