Secondary Teacher – Agricultural Education /Welding/Ag MechanicsGrades Taught 9-12Major Duties and Responsibilities: Teaches skills and knowledge in one or more courses in ag. mechanics and vocationalagriculture Instructs pupils in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of thecourse of study common to all teachers. Develops lesson plans and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, class work,and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time. Guides pupils in selection of appropriate elective projects or experiments. Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needsof pupils with widely varying intelligence and manual skills levels, and in order toaccommodate the variety of projects and experiments worked on simultaneously. Instructs pupils in Shop safety. Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to tools and equipment as required. Maintains contact with agricultural community to keep in touch with job entry requirements. Instructs pupils in importance of accuracy, individual resourcefulness, and good work habitsin obtaining and retaining jobs in agriculture. Shares in the sponsorship of student activities and participates in faculty committees.Qualifications • Credential: Ag Education Vocational Trade and Technical Teaching (Grades9-12 only).
