JOB TITLE: Kindergarten Dual Language Immersion Classroom Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid Idaho Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements.
Bachelors in Elementary Education, Early Education, Spanish Education, Spanish as a Second Language, or similar or a foreign degree equivalent.
All subjects (K-8), or Spanish (6-12), or TESOL endorsement preferred.
Demonstrated successful teaching experience.
Strong background in curriculum and the Idaho Core Standards
Minimum Oral Spanish Proficiency at the Advanced Mid-level in the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI); or demonstrate native Spanish proficiency.
Knowledge of Utah DLI instructional strategies, pedagogies and protocols preferred.
Ability to enroll in alternative routes for Idaho licensure process.
Fluent in English
Foreign degrees are certified and evaluated by WES demonstrating equivalent to a U.S. degree.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOALS:
To facilitate foundational skills to contribute to the development of Spanish language literacy such as:
develop print concepts
phonological awareness
knowledge of letter names and sounds in Spanish
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare for assigned kindergarten classes.
Teach foundational content and curriculum (math, language arts, early writing, and reading) in Spanish.
Create a nurturing learning environment where Spanish is the primary language of instruction, encouraging immersion and language development.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents by regularly communicating student progress, addressing concerns, and collaborating to support each child’s growth and development.
Design age-appropriate lessons following district approved curriculum that introduce foundational concepts in a logical and sequential manner, catering to the developmental stages of kindergarten students.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques, activities, and media that are suitable for young learners, considering the physical layout of the classroom and the diverse needs of the students.
Meet and instruct kindergarten classes in the designated locations and times, ensuring a consistent routine for the students.
Follow modifications and accommodations as outlined in Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to support all learners, particularly those with special needs.
Implement the Idaho Core Standards, as well as the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals, in lesson plans, classroom activities, unit planning, and assessments, with a focus on kindergarten readiness.
Create developmentally appropriate assignments and assessments using the approved curriculum that foster early analytical thinking and reinforce basic skills, using these tools to regularly evaluate student progress.
Prepare kindergarten students for district, state, and federal assessments by building a strong foundation in core skills.
Demonstrate a strong command of the kindergarten curriculum and subject matter.
Effectively manage classroom time to balance instructional activities, play, and rest, optimizing the learning experience for young students.
Demonstrates professional responsibilities by:
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules and classroom expectations in a manner appropriate for young children.
Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress, attendance, and other documentation as required by federal and state law, administrative rules, and Board policy.
Assume responsibility for continuous professional growth and development by attending relevant DLI department meetings, grade level meetings, etc.
Adhere to The Code of Ethics of the Idaho Teaching Profession as adopted by the Professional Standards Commission and the State Board of Education.
Seek assistance and follow school protocols should emergencies arise, ensuring the safety and well-being of kindergarten students.
Represent the school district positively, fostering a supportive and welcoming environment for students, parents, and the community.
Know and follow school district policy and chain of command, ensuring proper communication and collaboration within the school.
Perform all other duties as assigned, consistent with the responsibilities of a kindergarten teacher, the Idaho Code of Ethics, and the negotiated contract.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Contract period of 190 days for teachers, unless determined otherwise by the school board.
EVALUATION:
To be conducted by the district administrator in accordance with the guidelines specified in the evaluation policy.
